The Academic Bridge Fellowship will bring students attending Israeli universities or those getting ready to enter their first university year to the United States for a fully-funded summer program involving research and academic and cultural exchange. The inaugural program will take place from June 18 to July 23, 2024, at the University of Pennsylvania, a leading academic institution with programs in wide-ranging fields, including science, engineering, medicine, law, business, and the humanities, among other disciplines. The bridge fellowship is a scholarly summer internship, offering early exposure to the academic system in American universities and enhancing mutual understanding between fellows and members of our university community.

For this inaugural year of the program, forty fellows will join labs and research teams of faculty at the University of Pennsylvania and engage in four weeks of research activity, participate in daily academic seminars led by leading Penn faculty, and participate in social activities together with undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Pennsylvania.  The program will begin with a three-day orientation in Tel Aviv that will include Penn faculty, graduate and undergraduate students, along with Academic Bridge Fellows.  This orientation will offer fellows the opportunity to learn about the US academic system and about the scientific process. The orientation will also offer fellows the opportunity to get to know one another and the program leaders and create a community before traveling together to the US.
